IPSHR Registry Information
IPSHR was formed to be an inclusive registry. As such, it will register horses and ponies in the following categories, and place these horses into the designated set of registry books based on the following descriptions and definitions. Categories are subject to change, addition, or deletion as deemed necessary by the IPSHR council.

* Since mules are sterile hybrids, we do not include them in the IPSHR blood books. We do accept any Appaloosa patterned mules and Pinto mules, or a combination of the two. We record them in their own category for performance purposes. All IPSHR recorded patterned mules are eligible to participate in the STAR awards program. The USEF accepts mules as eligible participants in dressage and other sport events. IPSHR sees no reason to contest the USEF’s ruling that mules are acceptable equine sport athletes.
